Wreck of Mary Smethurst - Scottish West Coast

The Wreck of Mary Smethurst isn't just another lump of metal on the seabed. This is proper Scottish wreck diving, and we absolutely love it. Dropping down, you’ll find a beautifully broken stern section, tangled in fishing nets that sway like ghostly curtains in the surge. The bow lies a short swim away, a more intact, upright structure that just begs for exploration. We’ve spent hours here, poking around the holds, imagining the cargo, and watching for the huge conger eels that have made their home in the deeper parts of the wreck. It’s a dive that rewards repeat visits, each time revealing another detail. Bring a good torch and be prepared for some ambient light, even on a sunny day. This one is for experienced wreckies who appreciate history and don’t mind a bit of a chill.
