Wreck of Menai - Scottish West Coast

The Menai is classic Scottish wreck diving. You won't find tropical colours here, but what you will find is atmosphere, a sense of history, and some seriously robust marine life. We love how the kelp drapes over the hull in places, swaying with the surge, making for dramatic photo opportunities as light shafts through the fronds. Schools of saithe often hang above the main deck, shimmering, while conger eels peer out from nooks and crannies. It’s an intact wreck, sitting upright, which means there's plenty to explore for those comfortable with overhead environments. The engine room is a highlight, and you can still make out the large machinery. Our favourite part has to be the stern, where the rudder and propeller are still in place, almost perfectly preserved. It suits experienced divers who appreciate the challenge of colder water and the unique beauty of a wreck reclaimed by the North Atlantic. Visibility can be a bit variable, so pick your day – slack water on a calm morning offers the best chance to really soak it all in.
