Wreck of Ocean - Scottish West Coast

The Wreck of Ocean off Scotland's west coast isn't about tropical fish or shallow reefs. This is serious wreck diving, a proper adventure. Dropping onto her bow, the first thing you notice is the sheer size, she's substantial, and the structure is still remarkably intact despite the exposure. We love nosing around the engine room, always a highlight, with plenty of gauges and machinery still visible, giving a real sense of her working life. Visibility can be a mixed bag, this is Scotland after all, but on a good day, when the light penetrates, the sight of her masts stretching into the murk is pretty dramatic. We'd suggest keeping an eye out for the resident conger eels, they're not shy here, and the wreck is absolutely smothered in plumose anemones, creating these incredible white carpets that shimmer in your torch beam. This dive is definitely for experienced cold water wreck divers who appreciate history and a bit of challenge over comfort. Bring a good drysuit and a strong primary light, you'll need both.
