Wreck of Pearl - Scottish West Coast

The Pearl wreck off the Scottish West Coast isn’t for the faint of heart, but if you’re up for a proper adventure, it delivers. We love it because it’s a real dive, challenging but immensely rewarding. The Pearl is a coaster, sitting upright and surprisingly intact on a silty seabed. Drop down and you’re immediately enveloped in the low visibility, that classic Scottish green, but once you get your bearings, the wreck starts to reveal itself. We’d suggest a good dive light; it’s essential for peering into the holds and exploring the superstructure. Look out for the resident conger eels, they’re often tucked into dark corners, and we’ve seen some decent-sized pollack patrolling the deck. The currents here can be tricky, so time your dive carefully around slack water. It’s a dive that demands respect and experience, but the sense of accomplishment, and the sheer character of the wreck, makes it one of our favourites in the region.
