Wreck of Prosperity - Scottish West Coast

The Wreck of Prosperity, off Scotland's west coast, isn't about tropical colours. It's about atmosphere, history, and that palpable chill you get exploring a genuinely old wreck in surprisingly clear water. We love the way the light filters through the kelp forest overhead, dancing on the deck plates. This site is perfect for those who appreciate the quiet drama of a historical wreck, the kind that feels like a tomb rather than a playground. You'll spend your dive weaving through the skeletal remains of what was once a fishing trawler, her iron ribs now home to squat lobsters and the occasional shy conger eel. The superstructure is largely gone, but you can still make out the engine room, a dark maw where blennies dart in and out. The real magic happens when you notice the details: a solitary porcelain plate, a rusted engine part still bolted fast. Visibility can be fantastic here, especially on an incoming tide with a touch of sunshine, making the greens and greys really pop. We’d suggest a strong torch, not just for peering into nooks, but to really bring out the textures of the encrusting life.
