Wreck of Ros Guill - Scottish West Coast

Diving the Ros Guill is pure adventure, a proper Scottish wreck dive, and one we always recommend for experienced cold-water enthusiasts. Dropping down, the first thing you notice is the sheer scale of her, broken but still imposing on the seabed. We love picking out details like the massive winches and cargo holds, now home to ling and conger eels that peer out from the gloom. Visibility here can be tricky, often a silty 5-10 metres, which only adds to the atmosphere as the wreck slowly emerges from the murk. It’s not a site for beginners; strong currents can sweep through, and the depth means you need to be mindful of your bottom time, but for those up for the challenge, it’s immensely rewarding. Keep an eye out for nudibranchs clinging to the metalwork and the occasional wolf fish lurking in the deeper sections. Our favourite approach is to take your time, letting your eyes adjust, exploring the superstructure before heading into the holds if conditions allow.
