Wreck of Roscote - Scottish West Coast

The Wreck of Roscote isn't your average Scottish wreck. We love it because it’s so much more than a pile of collapsed metal; it’s still very much a ship, and that makes exploring it a real adventure. Dropping down, you feel the chill of the Atlantic, but then the shape of the Roscote emerges from the gloom, often cloaked in plumose anemones, their white tentacles waving gently. There are swim-throughs here, tight ones where you squeeze past bulkhead doors, and larger ones into the holds where you can imagine cargo still being stowed. Look closely for the wolfish, often tucked into shadowy corners, and we’ve seen some seriously chunky conger eels here too, peering out from beneath twisted plating. The light penetration, even on a bright day, is often quite muted, which lends the whole dive a wonderfully atmospheric, almost eerie feel. This is a site for the experienced wreck diver who appreciates history and enjoys navigating tight spaces, not just swimming over pretty corals. Come prepared for cold water, but we promise, the Roscote delivers a truly rewarding dive.
