Wreck of Saxon - Scottish West Coast

The Wreck of Saxon, nestled in the chill waters off Scotland’s west coast, isn't your average sunny destination wreck. This is cold-water diving at its best, a proper adventure. Dropping down, the visibility often plays hide-and-seek, but when the light punches through, the wreck materialises out of the green gloom like a ghost. We love exploring the collapsed hull, seeing the twisted metalwork that tells a story of a ship caught in a storm. It's a site for those who appreciate the history as much as the marine life. Conger eels are a common sight, peering out from shadowy crevices, and we’ve often spotted colourful nudibranchs clinging to the superstructure. Our pick for a truly atmospheric dive is on a calm day, just after high tide, when the currents are slackest. It’s a dive that rewards patience and a good drysuit; you’ll emerge with a real sense of accomplishment, and a renewed appreciation for these often-overlooked British waters.
