Wreck of Scarinish - Scottish West Coast

The Scarinish wreck, tucked away in the Scottish West Coast, gives you a proper feel for diving history. We love how the hull is still surprisingly intact in places, even after all these years. You can fin past ribs of steel, encrusted with a thick layer of anemones and dead man’s fingers, then push into the darker, more sheltered sections of the holds. Look closely in the gloom; our favourite spots are where conger eels have set up shop, their heads peering out from gaps in the plating. It’s a site that suits divers who appreciate the moodiness of a cold-water wreck, where the marine life isn't about vibrant colours but more about the sheer volume of critters making a home out of something man-made. The visibility can be a bit of a lottery, as it often is up here, but on a good day, with a bit of sunlight filtering down, it's genuinely atmospheric.
