Wreck of Sephon - Scottish West Coast

Diving the Sephon is a proper Scottish adventure, one of those dives that feels earned. We’re talking about a classic trawler, sitting upright and surprisingly intact on a silty seabed. You’ll spend most of your bottom time exploring the holds, maybe poking around the wheelhouse if the visibility is playing nice. What we love about the Sephon isn't just the history, though imagining her working life is part of the charm; it's the sheer number of critters that have made her home. Expect to find conger eels peering from every dark corner, their heads thick as your arm. Lobsters and crabs scuttle across the decks, and the hull plating is fuzzy with plumose anemones, swaying gently in the slight surge. Our favourite detail? The way light filters through the superstructure, creating these shafts that illuminate the tiny nudibranchs clinging to the metal. It’s a dive best suited for experienced cold-water divers comfortable with low visibility and the occasional current, but if you're up for it, the Sephon delivers a genuinely rewarding wreck dive.
