Wreck of shipwreck possibly the Hoheluft - Scottish West Coast

The Scottish West Coast is a rugged place to dive, and we love the raw, wild feeling of exploring wrecks here. The Hoheluft, or what we believe to be her remains, is a prime example. Dropping down, the first thing that hits you is the sheer scale, the broken metal a sharp contrast to the soft kelp swaying above. We’ve spent hours tracing her lines, imagining the ship in her prime, and even on a gloomier day, the visibility often surprises us, allowing details to emerge from the murk. Look closely for the wolf fish lurking in crevices; they’re quite common here, and our favourite find is often the nudibranchs, tiny bursts of colour against the rusted steel. This dive suits those who appreciate history and the challenge of cold water, offering a true sense of discovery rather than just a pretty reef. It’s less about bright colours and more about atmosphere, about feeling connected to a story beneath the waves.
