Wreck of Sirdar - Scottish West Coast

The Scottish West Coast might not scream "tropical escape," but trust us, the Sirdar wreck delivers a moody, atmospheric dive that we truly love. This isn’t some broken-up pile of metal. The Sirdar is a proper ship, upright and largely intact, resting on a silty seabed. Dropping down onto her, the ship’s structure looms out of the green, a real tangible piece of history. We’ve spent hours here, poking around her holds, imagining the cargo she once carried. What really makes the Sirdar a standout for us is the way marine life has embraced her. The deck beams are thick with dead man's fingers, their creamy tentacles swaying gently in the subtle currents. Look closely and you’ll find squat lobsters tucked into every crevice, and plumose anemones, tall and elegant, clinging to the superstructure. It’s a great dive for anyone who appreciates exploring an actual vessel, rather than just a debris field. We’d suggest a good dive light to really bring out the colours and spot the smaller critters. The visibility can be variable, as is typical here, but even on a greener day, the wreck’s imposing presence is never diminished.
