Wreck of Splendid - Scottish West Coast

The Wreck of Splendid isn't about tropical colours. This is a proper Scottish wreck dive, moody and atmospheric, often with a good push of current to keep you on your toes. We love the feeling of descending into that cold, green embrace, knowing a piece of history is waiting below. You’ll find the wreck itself well-broken but still recognisable as a substantial vessel. What makes it standout for us is the way the metalwork has become home to proper Atlantic life – expect dense carpets of plumose anemones, their white tentacles swaying with the surge, and the occasional wolfish peering out from a dark crevice. Our best dives here have been on a slack tide, giving us time to poke around the scattered debris, sometimes spotting a huge conger eel amongst the plates. It’s a dive for those who appreciate the raw beauty of cold-water wrecks, not for the faint of heart or those new to current.
