Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 102405 - Scottish West Coast

The "Unnamed Shipwreck" off the Scottish West Coast, Canmore 102405, is one of those dives that feels like peeling back a layer of maritime history, even if we don't know her name. We've spent a fair bit of time down on her, and while the depth can vary with the tide and your exact drop, expect to spend most of your time in the 20-30m range. It’s a proper wreck dive, best suited for those comfortable with deeper UK waters and who appreciate the cold, silty embrace of a good mystery. What we love about this wreck isn't just the structure itself, which is surprisingly intact in places, offering plenty of nooks and crannies to poke your head into. It's the way the Scottish ecosystem has just enveloped her. Think thick clusters of plumose anemones swaying gently, their white tentacles almost glowing in your torch beam, and the occasional inquisitive wrasse darting between encrusted beams. Visibility here can be a bit of a lottery; we’ve had days where it’s a good 10 metres, and others where you’re practically nose-to-bow, but that just adds to the atmospheric charm. Our favourite moment is usually finning along her main deck, imagining the life that once bustled there, now replaced by slow-moving crabs and the murmur of the current. It’s a dive that rewards slow exploration and a healthy dose of historical imagination.
