Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 102485 - Scottish West Coast

Diving a nameless wreck off Scotland’s west coast feels like stepping into a cold, salty time capsule. Canmore 102485, as it's officially known, doesn't have the grand story of some other ships, but that’s part of its charm. We love the mystery here, the way the structure emerges from the green gloom, slowly revealing itself. You’ll find yourself finning through the skeletal remains, often enveloped by a surprising number of wrasse darting between encrusted plates and the odd conger eel peeking from a dark crevice. The conditions can be challenging – expect decent current and often low visibility, especially after a good blow, so pick your day carefully. Slack tide is your friend. We’d suggest a strong torch, not just for looking into the darker sections, but also to bring out the surprising colours of the anemones and soft corals clinging to the metal. It’s a site for those who appreciate the raw, wild beauty of cold-water diving and the quiet contemplation a forgotten vessel offers. Definitely one for the drysuit brigade.
