Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 102541 - Scottish West Coast

When we talk about diving the Scottish West Coast, it’s usually the marine life or the dramatic scenery that grabs attention. But for us, there’s a quiet thrill in uncovering history, and the Unnamed Shipwreck, Canmore 102541, offers just that. We love the sheer mystery here; it’s a wreck without a known name, just a number, lying off a rugged stretch of coast that feels ancient. Dropping down, the first thing you notice is the way the light filters through the green water, giving everything a muted, almost ghostly glow. The wreck itself is a jumble of metal, slowly succumbing to the currents and the sea’s relentless embrace. It’s not one of those perfectly preserved ships, but that’s its charm. We’ve spent dives just poking around the scattered plates and twisted beams, imagining the vessel in its prime. It’s colonised now by plumose anemones, their white tentacles swaying with the surge, and you often see wrasse darting between the crevices. It’s a dive for those who appreciate the subtle beauty of decay and the stories the sea holds onto. Definitely for divers comfortable with colder water and a bit of current, which can pick up quickly here. Our favourite time to dive it is on a slack tide, giving you more time to explore without fighting the push.
