Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 102588 - Scottish West Coast

The Scottish West Coast often throws up surprises, and the Canmore 102588 wreck is one of our favourites. We love the sheer mystery here; it’s an unnamed vessel, swallowed by the cold, dark water, which just adds to the adventure. Dropping down, the first thing you notice is the ghostly outline emerging from the gloom, often cloaked in a shiver of pollock. Visibility can be hit or miss, but when it’s good, the structure reveals itself in fascinating detail, encrusted with a thick blanket of plumose anemones that glow under your torch. This isn't a wreck for penetration, but there's plenty to explore on the exterior, from the remains of the superstructure to the scattered debris field. Keep an eye out for wrasse darting between the metalwork and those massive crabs hunkering down in crevices. We’d suggest a good drysuit and an experienced buddy for this one, as the conditions can be challenging, but the atmosphere and the chance to dive a genuine piece of history make it absolutely worth the effort. It’s a dive that sticks with you long after you’ve surfaced, perfect for those who appreciate a bit of historical intrigue with their dive.
