Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 102705 - Scottish West Coast

The Scottish West Coast throws up plenty of surprises, and the Canmore 102705 wreck is one of our favourite mysteries. There’s no big signage here, just an unknown ship, lying quietly on the seabed. We often find the less famous wrecks offer a more intimate dive, a real sense of discovery. You’re descending into murky green, maybe a little surge pushing you around, and then the ghostly outline emerges. Visibility can be a proper challenge, but when it clears, even to five metres, the sheer scale of the unknown vessel is impressive. It’s a proper wreck diver’s playground – plenty of collapsed structure to navigate, with sections of hull still standing proud, creating dark caverns. Keep an eye out for the resident conger eels, they love the tight spaces. We’ve also seen some colossal lobsters tucked into crevices, their antennae waving in the slight current. It’s a dive that rewards patience and good buoyancy, perfect for those who like their wrecks with a side of historical intrigue and a healthy dose of atmosphere.
