Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 102747 - Scottish West Coast

The Canmore 102747, what we affectionately call the ‘Unnamed Shipwreck,’ sits off the Scottish West Coast, a proper dive into history. It’s not about tropical colours here, but the stark beauty of metal ribs against the gloom, a testament to unforgiving seas. We love the challenge of finding it, often relying on local intel and a good sounder, because official markers are sparse. What you find is a surprisingly intact wreck, draped in kelp and sea anenomes, where ling and wrasse shelter in the shadows. Penetrating the holds, if you're qualified and careful, offers a real sense of being lost in time, the water cold against your face, the silence broken only by your bubbles. It's a site that suits divers who appreciate atmospheric dives and a bit of a treasure hunt, rather than a parade of fish. Our favourite time to dive it is on a calm, overcast day, when the low light filters through the kelp, giving the whole wreck a haunting, otherworldly feel.
