Wreck of Vivid - Scottish West Coast

The Wreck of Vivid, lying off Scotland’s west coast, isn't about tropical colours; it's about history and atmosphere. Descending here feels like stepping back in time, the cold water adding to the sense of discovery. This isn't a beginner's dive, the conditions can be challenging, but for experienced wreck enthusiasts, it’s a truly rewarding dive. We particularly love how the strong currents, which can be tricky, have helped keep the wreck relatively intact, giving it a dramatic, sculptural quality. You'll often find conger eels peering from dark recesses, their thick bodies camouflaged against the rust. Schools of saithe move in shimmering curtains around the main structure, and the occasional inquisitive seal might even join your dive, darting in and out of the shadows. Our favourite part has to be exploring the engine room if conditions allow; it's eerily preserved, a real insight into the ship’s past life. We'd suggest timing your dive for slack water, if you can, to really appreciate the details without being swept along.
