Wreck of Vivo - Scottish West Coast

The Vivo is pure Scottish wreck diving, and we love it for that gritty, historical charm. Forget your tropical colours, this is about atmosphere. Dropping down onto her, the visibility often has that classic green tint, but as you approach, the dark silhouette of the trawler just… appears. It’s a good size for an exploratory dive, not so overwhelming you get lost, but enough to spend a decent bottom time poking around. We always head for the wheelhouse first, or what’s left of it, picturing the crew in that wild North Sea. The wreck itself is home to some seriously chunky critters. You’ll find conger eels tucked into every dark corner, their heads poking out with a wary glance. There are squat lobsters everywhere, scuttling amongst the plates, and often a decent sized monkfish half-buried in the sand just off the bow, perfectly camouflaged. We think it’s best on a slack tide, obviously, but even with a gentle push, the wreck gives you plenty of shelter. This dive is for those who appreciate history and don't mind a bit of a chill; it’s a proper dive for proper divers.
