Wreck of Wharfinger (Possibly) - Scottish West Coast

We love a good mystery, and the "Wreck of Wharfinger (Possibly)" delivers. Diving this site feels like you’re part of an ongoing investigation. While its true identity remains elusive, the wreck itself is a fantastic dive, lying scattered but still substantial enough to explore. We’ve drifted over decks colonised by plumose anemones, their white tentacles swaying gently in the current, and poked around twisted metal where shoals of pollock dart into the gloom. Visibility can be a bit of a gamble, often around 5-10 metres, but even in murkier conditions, the wreck’s presence is palpable – a dark, solid shape emerging from the green. It’s definitely one for advanced divers comfortable with colder water and a bit of current, but the sense of discovery here is genuinely thrilling. Our favourite moments are finding those tell-tale objects, a ceramic plate, a piece of machinery, that hint at the lives once lived on board.
