Wreck of White Cloud - Scottish West Coast

The White Cloud. She’s not one of those massive, intact freighters you swim through for days. This is a true Scottish wreck: broken, battered, and utterly atmospheric. What we love about her is the way she’s been completely taken over by the sea. The ship’s ribs stick up like skeletal fingers, draped in dead man’s fingers and bright anemones, which just glow in the often moody Scottish light. Visibility here can be a bit of a lottery, sometimes a solid 10 metres, sometimes less, but that just adds to the mystery. We’ve had some incredible dives here, poking around the debris field where parts of her engine lie scattered. You’ll often find wrasse darting between the plates, and the odd inquisitive conger eel peeking from beneath a rusted beam. It’s a dive that rewards slow exploration and a good torch, letting you appreciate the sheer resilience of marine life making a home out of history. This site really suits divers who appreciate a bit of history and a less-than-perfect, but thoroughly engaging, wreck.
