Wreck of Wyre Majestic - Scottish West Coast

Diving the Wyre Majestic on the Scottish West Coast is a proper adventure, a real taste of what cold water wreck diving is all about. This isn't some pristine, tropical showpiece; it's a working wreck, battered by the North Atlantic, and we absolutely love it for that. We've spent hours exploring her, and every dive reveals something new. You drop onto the stern, which is still quite intact, and you can almost feel the history. The prop is still there, massive and barnacle-encrusted, and the sheer scale of the ship is impressive as you make your way forward. Inside the holds, we've found conger eels coiled amongst the twisted metal, and the occasional inquisitive pollack will swim right up to your mask. Visibility can be hit or miss, but when it’s good, the light filtering through the hull plates is eerie and beautiful. Our advice? Go in late summer or early autumn for the best chance of decent conditions, and always be prepared for a bit of a current, especially around the exposed sections. This wreck really suits divers who appreciate a challenging, rewarding dive and who love seeing how the sea reclaims what’s hers.
