Wreck of Wyre Victory - Scottish West Coast

The Wyre Victory, a trawler lost in 1953, lies surprisingly intact on the seabed off the Scottish West Coast. We love how it’s become a proper artificial reef, draped in dead man’s fingers and home to some seriously chunky ballan wrasse. Descending onto the wheelhouse, you can often make out the ghostly outline of the mast stretching into the murk, creating a real sense of scale. Explore the stern section, where the prop shaft housing is usually teeming with juvenile pollack, or poke around the winch gear forward, where lobsters often shelter. Visibility can be hit or miss, typical for Scotland, but on a good day, with a bit of sunlight filtering through, it’s a genuinely atmospheric dive that suits experienced wreck divers comfortable with colder water and limited vis.
