Jevry's Drop - Sumatra

Jevry's Drop, named for good reason, is one of those Sumatra spots where you just let yourself go with the flow. We love finding a good wall, and this one really delivers. The coral starts shallow, maybe 5 metres, and just keeps going. You'll spend most of your time drifting along the face, looking for the smaller stuff tucked into the crevices, but it's hard not to be impressed by the sheer scale of the hard coral formations. Huge staghorn coral colonies jut out, creating ledges and overhangs that are prime real estate for garrupa and groups of ghost cardinalfish hovering in the shade. Our favourite part is the clown and Clark's anemonefish, they're everywhere, particularly in the branch corals lower down. There's a section around 15 metres where the wall steps back a bit, and that's usually where we find the fluted clams, often with their mantles fully extended, a beautiful burst of colour against the coral. If the current is mild, take your time to peer into the smaller holes, you might spot a camouflaged Carnelian Cowry. Jevry's Drop is a fantastic drift dive for anyone comfortable with some movement, offering a relaxed way to see a healthy wall full of activity.
