Seiun Maru - Subic Bay

The Seiun Maru is one of those Subic Bay wrecks that truly tells a story. We love how the hull opens up in places, letting shafts of light cut through the gloom, illuminating the big cargo holds. Dropping down, you’ll often feel a slight chill as you approach the metal, a stark contrast to the tropical surface. Our favourite moment is always finning past the stern, where you can still make out the large propeller and rudder, often draped in soft corals and sponges. It's a fantastic dive for advanced open water divers who appreciate wreck penetration without needing a full technical setup. The resident batfish schools are massive here, swirling around the deeper sections, and we’ve spotted giant frogfish clinging to the superstructure, masters of camouflage. We’d suggest going early in the morning; the visibility tends to be better before the boat traffic picks up, and the light penetration into the holds is just magic. Keep an eye out for nudibranchs on the deck plating, too; they're surprisingly common.
