La Baie de Paea - Moorea & Tahiti

Msambweni offers a proper wall dive, rare in Diani, dropping to around 22 metres. We love how the reef just falls away here, providing a real sense of exposure as you descend. Look closely at the wall itself; there are often Oriental flying gurnards fanning out their magnificent fins along the bottom, and we've spotted Longfin Bannerfish cruising the face. The visibility averages 9m, so it’s not always gin-clear, but that lower vis can really add to the atmosphere, making those batfish feel like they appear from the gloom. This site is excellent for divers who appreciate dramatic topography and don't mind slightly muted colours. It's a great spot for spotting those often-overlooked bottom dwellers like the Bar-tailed Flathead and various blennies. We'd suggest going on a calm morning to get the most out of the experience, keeping an eye out for larger pelagics in the blue.
