MidtDykk - Lofoten Islands
The team at MidtDykk are your gateway to diving the wild, cold waters of the Lofoten Islands. Forget everything you think you know about vibrant reefs. Here, it’s about the raw drama of Norway’s fjords, the sheer scale of the underwater rock formations, and the incredible, eerie light filtering through the surface. They specialise in small group trips, which we really appreciate, giving you space to properly soak in the environment. We’ve had some truly memorable dives with them, especially exploring the kelp forests that sway with the surge. The water itself feels ancient, a deep emerald green, and even in summer, there's that crisp chill that invigorates you right to your bones. Keep an eye out for wolfish lurking in cracks; their expressions are always a bit unsettling. Our favourite time to dive with MidtDykk is actually in late autumn, when the days shorten, and the light takes on a magical, almost silvery quality. Visibility can be epic then, sometimes stretching 30 metres. If you’re looking to tick off something genuinely different, and don't mind a bit of a shiver, MidtDykk offers an experience unlike any other. They also do freediving courses, which is a fantastic way to experience these waters if you’re not geared up for scuba. Just remember to bring your thickest drysuit undergarments.
