MS Hadsel - Lofoten Islands

Diving the MS Hadsel in the Lofoten Islands is a proper Northern adventure, one we reckon is worth the journey. This isn't your average tropical splash, it's a dive that demands a bit more planning but offers serious rewards. We love the dramatic feel of this wreck, lying on its side, almost as if it’s still trying to sail the seafloor. The Hadsel is a fairly intact freighter, and you can spend a good chunk of a bottom-time exploring its various sections. We particularly enjoy poking around the bridge area, where the wheelhouse offers some intriguing swim-throughs if you're comfortable with overhead environments and have the right training. Keep an eye out for the resident cod and pollock; they seem to have claimed the wreck as their own, darting between the decaying metal plates. The sheer scale of the ship is impressive, and the way the light filters down through the chilly Norwegian water, illuminating sections of the wreck, creates a really atmospheric dive. This is definitely a site for experienced cold-water wreck divers who appreciate history and don't mind a bit of a current, which can sometimes pick up here.
