N-46-VR - Lofoten Islands

The N-46-VR isn't about tropical fish or technicolor reefs. Up here in Lofoten, diving is a different beast entirely. We love this site for its sheer, stark beauty. Dropping down onto the condemned fishing vessel, you’re greeted by a haunting silhouette against the green-blue water. This wreck has been down for a while, plenty long enough for the structure to soften, allowing a rich tapestry of anemones and sponges to really get a grip. The wheelhouse is surprisingly intact, and if you’re careful with your fin kicks, you can still make out some of the instruments. Our favourite part has to be the stern, where the prop is still there, largely encrusted now but a real focal point. Look closely, and you’ll spot nudibranchs tucked into every crevice, plus the occasional crab scuttling away into the gloom. It’s a dive that suits those who appreciate the quiet drama of northern waters, a historical echo, and the way life adapts, even on a scuttled hulk. We'd suggest aiming for a calm day; the surface chop can make the entry a bit lively.
