RAPP II - Lofoten Islands

We love a wreck that tells a story, and RAPP II absolutely delivers on that front. This old motor vessel, sunk in '72 after battling heavy weather, sits upright at 20m, practically begging to be explored. Drop down and you’re immediately struck by the sheer bulk of it, a silent steel hulk against the greenish Lofoten water. The wheelhouse is still largely intact, and we’ve spent many a dive peering into its ghostly interior, imagining the last moments before she went down. She’s not a massive wreck, but her accessible holds and superstructure offer plenty to poke around in. Expect to see wolfish lurking in the darker corners and nudibranchs clinging to the metalwork – a hardy bunch that thrive in these northern waters. For photographers, the way the ambient light filters through the structure can create some really dramatic shots, especially on a bright day. We’d suggest going early if you can; the visibility often holds better before any boat traffic stirs things up. This site is a solid pick for divers who appreciate a bit of history with their dive, without needing extreme depths or currents. It's a proper wreck dive, Lofoten style.
