RIVERTON - Lofoten Islands

The Riverton lies in around 25 metres of water, a steamship sunk during World War II near Narvik. Dropping down, you’ll find the wreck largely intact, resting upright on the seabed. We often see the bow standing proud, covered in a fuzzy blanket of anemones and hydroids, while the stern can be more broken up, offering swim-throughs into cargo holds if you're comfortable with overhead environments. Shoals of saithe and cod frequently hang around the superstructure, providing a good sense of scale against the dark steel. It's a solid dive for those keen on wreck history and cold-water marine life, without being overly challenging.
