SS Dronning Maud - Lofoten Islands
The MT Haven. For us, this isn't just a big wreck, it's a monumental piece of underwater history in the Mediterranean. She lies upright, broken but still imposing, starting around 33 metres and plunging down to 80 metres, so you'll need your advanced certs and likely some technical training to really do her justice. We love the sheer scale of the place; you can spend multiple dives here and still feel like you’ve barely scratched the surface. Our favourite sections include the bridge, sitting around 50 metres, often shrouded in a hazy cloud of small fish, and the enormous propeller, which is just breathtaking to circle. You’ll find congers peeking from every dark hole, fat scorpionfish camouflaged on the plating, and impressive stands of pink sea fans clinging to exposed steel. The visibility can vary, but on a good day, the light filters down through the depths, giving the whole wreck a blue, ethereal glow. It's a deep dive, often with some current, so good buoyancy and gas management are key. Dive it early in the morning for the best chance of calmer conditions and fewer boats.
