Z19 Herrman Kunne - Lofoten Islands

The Z19 Herrman Kunne isn't just a wreck; it's a cold-water history lesson, an absolute standout in the Lofoten Islands. Dropping to 35 metres, this German destroyer offers a genuinely immersive experience. We love tracing the distinct lines of the ship, particularly the visible gun mounts and the sheer scale of the hull. The cold, clear water often provides incredible visibility, allowing you to really appreciate the structure from a distance before getting up close. What you'll find here is a wreck transformed into a thriving artificial reef. Anemones bloom in surprising colours, cling to the metal, and cod patrol the deeper sections. Look for the wolf fish lurking in crevices; they’re a favourite. It's an intermediate dive, so comfortable buoyancy is key for exploring the superstructure without disturbing the delicate marine growth. Our top tip: dive this site on a calm day. The surface conditions can be choppy in Lofoten, but underneath, the Kunne is a silent, majestic sentinel.
