COLORADO - Costa Brava
The Colorado isn’t your typical deep Mediterranean wreck, and that’s precisely why we love it. Sliced clean in two during a collision back in '79, it’s a relatively shallow dive, topping out around 25 metres. We often find the visibility here can play tricks, sometimes a dreamy 20 metres, other days a bit murkier, which only adds to the atmosphere when you’re swimming over the two distinct sections. You’ll spot the bow and stern separated by a short swim, both resting upright, making for some fantastic photo opportunities. Our favourite part has to be the way light filters through the remaining deck structures, illuminating resident groupers lurking in the shadows. Look closely, and you’ll see the hull is completely carpeted in colourful gorgonians and sponges, a real explosion of purples and yellows against the steel. This isn't a penetration dive, but you can explore the outer shell, finning past schools of damselfish that shimmer in the current. It’s a dive that rewards slow exploration, perfect for those who enjoy the quiet beauty of a wreck reclaimed by the sea.
