Medusadive - Costa Brava
The team at Medusadive really knows their stuff. We love how their operation feels big enough to be super professional, but still small enough that you’re not just another number. They’re a PADI 5-star CDC, which means if you’re looking to go pro, or just want to take your recreational skills to the highest level, you’ll be in genuinely excellent hands here. They’re a top pick for serious divers who appreciate modern facilities and well-maintained gear. We’ve always found their boat dives to be particularly well-organised, getting you out to those deeper pinnacles and wall dives like El Borell or the fishing boat wreck, El Marmoler. These spots can sometimes have a bit of current, but that’s often where you’ll see the bigger pelagics, like barracuda schooling overhead. The guides are sharp-eyed, pointing out things you’d otherwise miss – little nudibranchs tucked into gorgonian fans, or octopuses peering from their dens. Our favourite tip? Try to get on an early morning boat if you can; the light hitting the reefs around the Medes Islands is just magical, and you often beat the biggest crowds. You’ll definitely feel the cool thermoclines even in summer, so a 5mm wetsuit is a good call, maybe even a hood if you’re doing multiple dives.
