Sub Odyssée - Costa Brava
The team at Sub Odyssée are the kind of people you want to dive with. They’re based in L’Estartit, right on the doorstep of the Medes Islands Marine Reserve, and for us, that’s their biggest draw. We love that they really lean into the local sites, especially those around the islands. We’d recommend them for divers who appreciate a well-run operation and want to focus on exploring the Medes. Their boats are tidy, the rental gear is always in good nick, and they’ve got a knack for getting you on the right site at the right time. They’re not just ferrying divers; they’re genuinely enthusiastic about showing off what’s beneath the waves here. Think big schools of barracuda circling the pinnacles, grouper peering out from rocky crevices, and those beautiful gorgonian forests swaying in the gentle current. One of our favourite dives with them was a morning drift along La Vaca, watching the sunbeams filter through the water column, illuminating the reds and oranges of the seafans. They’re also brilliant if you’re looking to get certified, their instructors are patient and know the local conditions inside out. Just be aware that the Medes can get busy in peak summer, so chat to them about earlier starts or quieter times to avoid the crowds.
