Pelleteuse - Costa Brava

We love a good wreck, especially one with a bit of a story, and the Pelleteuse is exactly that. It’s an old dredging boat, lying on its side, and you can really get a sense of its working life even now. Dropping down, you’ll find yourself navigating around the huge bucket and machinery, all completely covered in sunset cup corals – a vivid orange against the grey metal. It’s a great spot for hunting out the smaller stuff; we’ve often spotted sea scorpions tucked into crevices, their camouflage almost perfect, and congers peering out from pipes. The wreck itself has become a proper little ecosystem. Cardinal fish flit in and out of the darker spaces, and if you take it slow and really look, you might catch a glimpse of a dark tonguefish or a masked crab scuttling across the sand nearby. Our favourite moment here is usually around the wheelhouse, where the light plays through the gaps, creating an eerie glow. It’s a pretty straightforward dive for anyone comfortable with wrecks, offering plenty to explore without being overly deep or complex. Just watch for the occasional pilchard school zipping past, a silver flash in your periphery.
