Plongée Passion - Costa Brava

Plongée Passion on the Costa Brava, for us, is one of those Mediterranean sites that just keeps giving. We’ve drifted through here more times than we can count, and there’s always something new, or at least a different angle on the familiar. You’ll drop onto a sloping reef, initially quite gentle, but it soon carves into some really dramatic gullies and small caverns. It’s not a deep dive, typically staying in the 15-25 metre range, which means good bottom time to really explore. What we love here are the walls, absolutely coated in colourful sponges and soft corals. Keep your eyes peeled for butterfly blennies perched on every rock, their tiny heads bobbing. We’ve had fantastic luck spotting moray eels tucked into crevices, and if you’re patient and peek under ledges, you might even spot a ribbonfish undulating in the shadows – a real treat. On a sunny day, the light plays through the cracks, illuminating clouds of poor cod and juvenile hake. It’s a pretty easy dive, suitable for Open Water divers, and honestly, it’s one of our favourite spots for just soaking up the classic Med vibe. The currents are usually mild, though we’d always suggest checking local conditions before you splash.
