Pythéas - Costa Brava

Pythéas is a Mediterranean favourite of ours, and it’s a site that consistently delivers. We love the way the light filters through the deeper sections, creating this ethereal glow as you drift past the walls. You’ll spend most of your time here exploring the nooks and crannies, keeping an eye out for the resident garrupa. They’re usually quite curious. The site’s full of smaller stuff too, if you take your time, from jewel anemones splashed across the rock to the occasional blotched picarel darting into cover. Our insider tip: go early. Not just for fewer divers, but the morning light really makes the sunset cup corals pop with colour. We've even been lucky enough to spot a loggerhead turtle cruising by in the bluer water off the main wall. It’s a site that’s generally calm, making it a good pick for those who enjoy a relaxed dive with plenty of chances for macro photography, or just simply observing.
