HINDENBURG - Baltic Coast

Diving the Hindenburg is a proper adventure, a deep dive into history off the Baltic Coast. This isn't some tropical reef, but a monumental steamship that went down in 1942, torpedoed by a Russian submarine. Lying at 59 meters, the sheer scale of her hits you hard. We love how intact she is, the bridge still standing proud, huge cargo holds open for exploration. Dropping down, you feel the cold embrace of the Baltic, and then the dark silhouette of the Hindenburg starts to emerge, a leviathan of steel. Visibility here can be a bit moody, anywhere from 5 to 20 meters, so pick your weather window. We’d suggest a calm summer day for the best chance. The triple-expansion engines are a sight, and penetration into the holds feels like stepping back in time. You’ll find cod and ling often sheltering in the gloom, and the occasional scuttling crab. It’s a serious dive, definitely for experienced technical divers comfortable with depth and overhead environments. Our favourite part is navigating the upper decks, imagining the chaos of her final moments. It’s an immersive experience, a silent museum beneath the waves.
