HMSM E18 - Baltic Coast

The HMSM E18 is a haunting dive, sitting upright at 57 metres, and for us, it’s one of the Baltic’s real draws. You descend onto a piece of history, a submarine built by Vickers in 1915, and the scale of it quickly becomes apparent. The twin shafts are still there, the torpedo tubes visible, though sealed. We love the way she just rests on the seabed, almost as if she’s waiting for a new crew. Visibility here can be a bit variable, but on a good day, the low light filters down, creating an eerie glow on the steel. You can spend a good chunk of your bottom time just circumnavigating the hull, imagining the life on board. While we don't often see big pelagics here, small cod and blennies have made the various nooks and crannies their home, darting in and out of the corroded metalwork. For serious wreck enthusiasts, especially those with an interest in naval history and technical diving skills, this site is a truly special experience. It’s cold, it’s deep, and it’s spectacular.
