Ojamon kaivoslampi - Baltic Coast

The Wreck of the *Atlantic* (possibly, as its identity is still debated) isn't one of the Battleship Row giants, but it’s a Scapa Flow classic for a reason. We love how accessible it is, often done as a drift dive if the current is running, giving you a real sense of journey over the wreckage. You descend into that distinctive green Orkney light, and the wreck emerges from the gloom, draped in jewel anemones that glow like scattered rubies and emeralds. It’s mostly broken up, a field of ribs and plates, but the sheer volume of metal makes it impressive, especially when a curious common seal glides past, observing you with wide, dark eyes. Our favourite part is exploring the smaller sections, where colonies of white-beaked dolphins sometimes cruise past, or you might spot a lazy dogfish tucked into a crevice. It’s a site that rewards a slow pace, letting you absorb the history etched into the corroded steel and appreciate the marine life that now thrives here. For divers new to Scapa, it’s a brilliant introduction to the flow’s unique character before tackling the deeper, more intact wrecks. Just remember your drysuit – that North Sea chill is no joke, even on a sunny day.
