DUNGRANGE - Cornwall & Devon

The Dungrange, sunk in 1944, is one of those wrecks that just keeps giving. At 57 metres, it’s certainly one for the experienced tech diver, but the rewards are there for the effort. We love exploring the bow, which is often the most intact section, still holding some of its shape. As you descend, the visibility can shift, but on a good day, you can make out the entire structure looming up from the seabed. Our favourite part has to be the boiler; it’s a huge, cylindrical landmark, now completely encrusted with plumose anemones, their tentacles swaying gently in the subtle currents. Look closely, and you’ll spot velvet crabs scuttling amongst the growth, and conger eels often peek out from the darker recesses. The stern, too, offers some interesting penetration points if you’re properly trained and equipped, revealing glimpses into the ship’s past. It’s a quiet, atmospheric dive, perfect for those who appreciate history and the way the sea reclaims its own.
