IBIS - Cornwall & Devon

The Ibis wreck, resting off Berry Head, is a surprisingly engaging dive for its modest depth. We’ve seen her hull, mostly intact, though time and weather have certainly left their mark since she went down in '89. It's a shallow rummage, really, perfect for longer bottom times and those wanting to practice their wreck skills without the pressure of deep water. The superstructure has collapsed a fair bit, but we’ve still found swim-throughs into what used to be her holds, now home to spider crabs, the occasional dogfish, and plenty of feisty velvet swimming crabs. Visibility can be hit or miss, as with most UK coastal dives, but on a good day, the light plays nicely on the skeletal remains of the deck.
