PEER GYNT (POSSIBLY) - Cornwall & Devon

There’s a real sense of history dropping onto the *Peer Gynt* (possibly). We’ve spent many dives on wrecks around the UK, and this one, sitting upright at 38m, has a melancholic beauty to it. The visibility here can be… challenging, let’s be honest, but when it clears, you’re looking at a steamship torpedoed in 1917. Our favourite part has to be the twin boilers, still very much intact and towering over the seabed, with shoals of bib darting in and out. Exploring the bow, you’ll often find conger eels peering from the deeper recesses. The hull is largely intact, stretching almost 70 metres, a testament to its solid build. We’d suggest a good dive light to really pick out the detail, particularly within the holds where the structure is now home to vibrant anemones and dead man’s fingers. This dive suits experienced wreck divers who appreciate a proper historical site, understanding that conditions can vary significantly, adding to the adventure. It’s a dark, atmospheric dive, full of character, and we love the quiet contemplation it offers.
