REDVERS BULLER - Cornwall & Devon

The Redvers Buller is one of our favourites in Lyme Bay. She’s a dredger, sunk in 1932, and sits perfectly upright on a sandy seabed at 15 metres. That makes her a great dive for anyone with a PADI Open Water certification or above, though we'd recommend some decent buoyancy control. You can swim right through the holds, which are often packed with bib and pouting. We love to poke around the collapsed accommodation block at the stern, where conger eels have made themselves at home, peering out from rusty pipes. The bow section has some great structure too, with the anchor chains draped over the side and often a decent gathering of wrasse picking at the growth. Look closely at the deck plating, especially on a sunny day, and you’ll spot jewel anemones glowing like tiny stained-glass windows. Visibility here can swing a bit, but on a good day, when the sun penetrates the green water, the atmosphere inside the holds is genuinely cool. It’s a proper historical wreck that feels very much alive.
