Scuba Diving Scotland - Scottish West Coast

The team at Scuba Diving Scotland are proper legends. They’re based right on the Scottish West Coast, meaning you’re often diving just minutes from their door. We love that this outfit really leans into the local diving, instead of trying to be something it’s not. They specialise in cold water PADI courses, right up to instructor level. If you’re serious about becoming a proficient diver in challenging, rewarding conditions, this is your place. Diving here is about the sheer drama of the place. Think kelp forests swaying in emerald green light, ancient wrecks covered in plumose anemones, and seals zipping past. The water is cold, yes, but it’s often startlingly clear, especially after a spell of settled weather. We’d suggest investing in a good drysuit or a very thick wetsuit, and maybe some thicker gloves than you’re used to. Visibility can vary, but on a good day, it’s 15 metres and more, with the light filtering down through the kelp creating an almost cathedral-like feel. Our favourite dives often involve poking around old fishing boats or wartime debris, discovering crabs scuttling amongst the rust. There’s a quiet beauty to the Scottish dive sites, a real sense of wildness you don’t find everywhere.
