Bågø Flak - North Sea Coast

Stonor Patch. Now that’s a name that doesn’t exactly scream "epic dive site," does it? Sounds more like a poorly-researched hairpiece. But trust us, don’t let the bland name fool you. We’ve logged a fair few dives here, and it's consistently one of our favourites in the outer GBR. What makes it special? Well, it’s all about the coral architecture. We’re talking enormous colonies of yellow scroll coral, like ancient, gnarled sculptures reaching for the surface. And the staghorn formations? Some of the most intricate we’ve seen, creating mazes and gulleys that are just begging to be explored. Light filters down through these structures, creating shifting patterns on the sandy bottom. Keep an eye out for cleaner mimic blennies darting around the various rock cods that call this place home. You’ll also spot plenty of rainbow wrasse flitting between the branches of the montipora. The currents here are generally pretty mellow, making it a relaxed drift. We’d suggest going in the morning; the light just hits those big scroll corals perfectly then. It's a great spot for photographers looking for interesting coralscapes and macro life, but equally rewarding for anyone who just wants to glide through some truly impressive reef.
